PBRF

SP2000_ROADS-08

PBRF is a polymerised bitumen rejuvenator with mastic filler that extends the life of asphalt and chip seal surfaces by preventing damaging moisture and ultraviolet rays from penetrating the surface. This single component, black bitumen compound, contains no solvents, promotes elasticity, retards binder ageing and rejuvenates dry asphalt surfaces.
After filling up tiny cracks and crevices and penetrating capillary systems to a depth of several millimeters, PBRF sets and polymerises to form a continuous, permanent and resilient seal against water penetration, erosion and chemical attack. PBRF is thus also a good remedial measure for fine surface cracking.

Developed in Africa, PBRF has undergone extensive testing in Europe, and has been successfully applied extensively throughout southern Africa.

Through the use of PBRF, most conventional crack sealing operations can be omitted, facilitating significant savings in both maintenance time and costs. It also allows roads to be reopened to traffic within just 2 to 4 hours of application depending on the ambient temperature. It is important to note that cracks must, however, be adequately cleaned prior to the application of PBRF.

Cost Effective Road Rejuvination

Applied at a rate of approximately 1,0kg/m², PBRF is spread over the existing surface, either mechanically or manually, and reacts with the dry bitumen shortly after application. A good adhesion is obtained and reaction with the atmosphere sets up a thin layer on top of the existing surface to allow the road to be reopened to traffic within 2 to 4 hours of application.

PBRF compares favourably on cost with a combination of 30{158cd9d3aa0f907a8168809e8ea77da969af9f520bb07720de2195c78a1f506d} bitumen emulsion fog spray and a fine slurry seal.
